Heading out the door in a minute to go cruising around north-east Oregon. North-east Oregon is home to some interesting geology, and a lot of close to the surface fossils. The plan is to cruise around a paleontology museum, and then tomorrow, stop in the aptly named town of Fossil to do some digging. They have a little rock pit behind the high school where for $5, you can dig for your own fossils. We aren't talking dinosaurs, but as into fossils as both my kids are right now, they will find a fossil leaf or shellfish just as amazing.
Hopefully.
