Yesterday in Tacoma, a man used a firearm for one of it's intended purposes, defending himself from a home invasion.
Guy sees three shady looking characters sneaking around to his sliding back window, hears the glass break, and runs upstairs to hide in his bedroom.
After a few minutes, the guy hears noise outside his bedroom door, and shot the bad guy several times through his door. Bad Guy 1 was DOA, Bad Guys 2 and 3 fled. Bad Guy 2 has since been caught by the police.
Now...I am not going to mourn the loss of Bad Guy 1...and I would hate to 2nd guess someone based off a story that has so little detail...but...I wonder what kind of legal risk you are exposing yourself too shooting someone through your bedroom door? Just seems like there is some kind of target identification questions that could be asked.
The police aren't saying anything yet, and I don't doubt that the shoot was justified...it's simply in this day of tort-happy civil cases, I'm sure this homeowners next few months will be full of frustration.
