Why?

Adventures of a Modern Day, Middle-Aged Hero, on the Glory Road(to family security)

Not quite a dead goblin...

But one that will probably need some major reconstructive surgery:

Tacoma homeowner shoots would-be burglar in the face

There wasn't a lot of detail in the initial story, although they had a follow-up story today that added a little more information,  including this great quote from the Pierce County Prosecutor's Office:

'“Generally speaking,” he said, “we are not going to charge a homeowner for defending himself or herself against a burglar. “Here’s the lesson for potential burglars: When you break into someone’s house, you take the chance you’re going to get shot.”'

Doesn't sound like he's going to go out of his way to find an excuse to go after this guy.

Then there are the caring neighbors:

'“I hope the young man is OK,” neighbor Linda Lauritzen said. “… He didn’t ask for that to happen. Even if you’re protecting yourself, you have to deal with the fact that you shot someone. That would have to have an effect, I would think.”'

That has to make you feel all warm and fuzzy...a neighbor who is more worried about her neighbors mental well-being than the face of the would-be burgler who most people have agreed deserved to get shot...

  1. All good. I must add, most people (men definitely) who shoot a criminal with absolute just cause? Feel no guilt, but will be told to express such for 'legal purposes'. Especially those men who have had to... do "bad things" before (and sometimes to better men, such as in some wars). Oh, if need be, I'd be wetting myself with shame, too... publicly. But I'd ask my lawyer for evidence, specifically... pictures... woot! Headshots ain't easy, you know. Heh.

Thankfully, though, I moved to a place where I would not even be more than mildly if honestly investigated, so that it could be said the i's were dotted, t's were crossed, and everything was straight up. But I moved specifically because the last place I lived, the prosecutor would have attempted (and possibly succeeded in) railroading me, for self defense, and the area was actively recruiting goblins to come live there. Seriously, pulling in the dregs from the closing Chicago and Peoria "public housing projects".

Hmm, rather than post warning signs on your property, just put a picture of 'the last guy' in your windows. Psyops, ba-by.
